4.8 from 131 reviews

Authentic Thai Iced Tea is a refreshing and sweet beverage made from strong brewed black tea, mixed with condensed milk and sugar, then served chilled over ice. This classic Thai drink is perfect for cooling down on warm days and offers a rich, creamy flavor with a hint of sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons black tea leaves (Thai tea mix preferred)

Sweetened Milk Mixture

  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Serving

  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add 4 tablespoons of black tea leaves or Thai tea mix. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to extract a strong flavor. Remove from heat and strain the tea leaves out, allowing the tea to cool slightly.
  2. Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Then add 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk and mix well to combine. Adjust the sweetness to taste if desired.
  3. Chill and Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the sweetened tea mixture over the ice. Stir gently to chill the drink. Optionally, top with a splash of evaporated milk or additional condensed milk for extra creaminess. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use authentic Thai tea mix for the most traditional flavor, which includes a blend of black tea and spices.
  • Adjust sugar and condensed milk quantities to your preferred level of sweetness and creaminess.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute condensed milk with coconut milk and sweetener of choice.
  • Serve with a straw and stir before drinking, as the ingredients may settle.
