Ingredients

Scale

For the Cocktail

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 4 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1 & 1/2 oz cream of coconut (such as Coco Lopez)
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • Crushed ice (as needed)

For Garnish

  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Pineapple slice
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Toasted sweetened shredded coconut (for glass rim)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim: Pour the simple syrup onto a shallow plate. Dip the rim of the glass into the simple syrup, then immediately into the toasted sweetened shredded coconut to coat the rim evenly. Set aside.
  2. Mix the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine the dark rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and cream of coconut. Add a scoop of ice to the shaker and shake vigorously until the drink is well chilled and properly mixed.
  3. Strain and serve: Strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared glass filled with crushed ice. Add a generous sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg on top for an aromatic garnish.
  4. Garnish and finish: Garnish the drink with a pineapple slice and a maraschino cherry skewered on a cocktail pick. Insert a straw and serve immediately for the best experience.

Notes

  • Use good quality dark rum for authentic flavor.
  • Chilling the shaker before use helps achieve a colder drink faster.
  • Toasted coconut on the rim adds a sweet crunch and enhances the tropical theme.
  • Freshly grated nutmeg is essential for the signature Painkiller aroma and taste.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup.
