Delicious and elegant chocolate-covered strawberries made by dipping fresh strawberries into melted semisweet chocolate and optionally drizzling with white or milk chocolate. This easy no-bake dessert is perfect for special occasions or a sweet treat anytime.

Ingredients

Scale

Strawberries

  • 1 pound (454 grams) strawberries, washed and dried thoroughly

Chocolate Coating

  • 6 ounces (170 grams) semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon (5 milliliters) coconut oil or vegetable shortening, divided

Optional Toppings

  • 3 ounces (85 grams) white and/or milk chocolate, chopped, for drizzling
  • Mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or sprinkles for coating

Instructions

  1. Prepare Work Surface: Line a rimmed baking sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to place the dipped strawberries on for setting.
  2. Melt Semisweet Chocolate: Combine semisweet chocolate and 3/4 teaspoon coconut oil in a small, deep microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until the chocolate is just melted. Avoid overheating to prevent seizing.
  3. Dip Strawberries: Insert a toothpick into each strawberry’s stem, pushing the leaves upward. Dip the strawberry into the melted semisweet chocolate, coating it completely. Let excess chocolate drip off by tapping the toothpick against the bowl. If desired, roll the chocolate-coated strawberry in chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or sprinkles. Place the strawberry onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining strawberries. Reheat chocolate briefly if it firms up.
  4. Melt White Chocolate Drizzle (Optional): In a microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate and remaining 1/4 teaspoon coconut oil. Microwave in 30 seconds, stir, then in 15-second increments, stirring each time, until just melted.
  5. Drizzle Strawberries: Transfer the melted white chocolate to a piping bag or resealable plastic bag and cut a very small hole in one corner. Holding the toothpick in the strawberry, lift and drizzle the white chocolate over it, then place back on the parchment to set. Repeat until all strawberries are decorated. This method creates a neat drizzle finish.
  6. Set the Chocolate: Allow the strawberries to set for about 30 minutes at room temperature or 15 minutes in the refrigerator. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to help chocolate adhere better.
  • If chocolate firms during dipping, reheat it briefly to maintain consistency.
  • Use a toothpick carefully to avoid damaging the strawberry but to hold it securely while dipping and drizzling.
  • Store prepared strawberries in a single layer in the refrigerator and consume within 1-2 days for best freshness.
  • To make the dessert vegan, use vegan-certified chocolate and a suitable oil like coconut oil.
