Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (your choice, such as ciabatta or sourdough)
- 3–4 slices of deli sliced turkey
- 2 slices of cheese (such as cheddar, Swiss, or provolone)
- 1–2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon mustard or mayonnaise (your preference)
- Assemble the Sandwich: Spread mustard or mayonnaise evenly on one slice of bread. Layer the sliced turkey and cheese on top, then cover with the second slice of bread.
- Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on the outside surfaces of both bread slices to ensure a golden, crispy crust when grilled.
- Grill the Panini: Preheat a panini press or a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in and press down (use a heavy pan or a grill press if using skillet). Grill for 3-5 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Serve: Remove the panini from the press or skillet, slice if desired, and serve immediately while warm and melty.
Notes
- You can substitute turkey with chicken or ham if preferred.
- Try adding veggies like tomato slices, spinach, or roasted peppers for extra flavor and nutrition.
- If you don’t have a panini press, use a heavy skillet and press the sandwich with another weighted pan or foil-wrapped brick.
- Adjust the cooking time based on your stovetop or panini press heat to avoid burning the bread.
