Mango Purée
- 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
- 1–2 tsp hot honey
- Pinch of chili powder (optional)
Margarita
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz Cointreau
- ½ cup mango purée
- 1 cup ice
For Rim and Garnish
- Tajín (for rim and garnish)
- lime wedge (for garnish)
- 1 dried árbol pepper
- Make the Mango Purée: Blend together the frozen mango chunks, hot honey, and optional chili powder until completely smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water or fresh lime juice to achieve a smooth consistency.
- Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into Tajín seasoning to coat it evenly, lending a spicy and tangy flavor.
- Mix the Margarita (Frozen Method): Blend together tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice until the mixture is smooth and icy.
- Mix the Margarita (Shaken Method): Alternatively, combine tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice in a shaker. Shake well, then strain into the Tajín-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish & Serve: Drizzle additional hot honey inside the glass for a sweet heat contrast. Prepare the dried árbol pepper by rinsing and deseeding it to reduce spice or leave the seeds in for more heat. Add the pepper to the drink and garnish with a fresh lime wedge. Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can adjust the heat level by varying the amount of hot honey and the treatment of the árbol pepper (deseeded or whole).
- If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the hot honey to taste.
- The chili powder is optional but adds an extra layer of spice.
- Using fresh lime juice is important for bright and authentic margarita flavor.
- The drink can be prepared frozen or shaken depending on your texture preference.
- Rimming the glass with Tajín adds a deliciously spicy and tangy complement to the cocktail.
