Ingredients

Scale

Tea & Flavoring

  • 3 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 tbsp dried lavender flowers
  • 2 cups water

Tapioca Pearls

  • ½ cup tapioca pearls
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Other Ingredients

  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Lavender Earl Grey Tea: Simmer 2 cups of water, then remove it from the heat. Add the dried lavender flowers in a tea infuser along with the Earl Grey tea bags to the hot water. Steep for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. Cool the Tea: Remove the tea bags and tea infuser. Let the tea come to room temperature to prepare it for the final assembly of the drink.
  3. Cook Tapioca Pearls: Meanwhile, bring a small pot of water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls, reduce the heat, and simmer gently for 5-6 minutes until they become soft and chewy.
  4. Sweeten Tapioca Pearls: Strain the cooked pearls and transfer them to a small bowl. Stir in the brown sugar thoroughly to coat the pearls and allow them to cool completely, enhancing their sweetness and texture.
  5. Assemble the Drink: Evenly divide the sweetened tapioca pearls and their syrup between two glasses. Add ice cubes to chill the drink nicely.
  6. Finish and Serve: Pour the cooled lavender Earl Grey tea over the ice and tapioca pearls. Top each glass with ¼ cup almond milk (to total ½ cup for two servings) and gently stir before serving for a creamy, floral milk tea.

Notes

  • Use a tea infuser or a fine mesh strainer to steep the lavender to avoid petals in the drink.
  • Tapioca pearls should be consumed soon after cooking for the best texture.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of brown sugar used with the tapioca pearls.
  • Almond milk can be substituted with any plant-based or dairy milk of choice.
  • Ensure tea cools completely before adding ice to prevent dilution.
