Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Tortillas

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas

Slaw

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Salt to taste

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp: Rinse and pat dry the shrimp. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side or until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  3. Make the slaw: In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots, cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Toss well and set aside.
  4. Prepare the sauce: Mix mayonnaise, lime juice, minced garlic, and hot sauce in a small bowl until smooth.
  5. Warm the tortillas: Heat the tortillas on a dry skillet or directly over the flame for 20 seconds on each side until warm and pliable.
  6. Assemble the tacos: Place cooked shrimp on each tortilla, add a generous spoonful of slaw, and drizzle with the prepared sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute the mayonnaise-based sauce with a yogurt-based sauce for a lighter option.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free option.
  • Add sliced avocado or jalapeños for an extra kick.
