Shrimp
- 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Tortillas
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
Slaw
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup shredded carrots
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- Salt to taste
Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Prepare the shrimp: Rinse and pat dry the shrimp. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Cook the shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side or until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
- Make the slaw: In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots, cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Toss well and set aside.
- Prepare the sauce: Mix mayonnaise, lime juice, minced garlic, and hot sauce in a small bowl until smooth.
- Warm the tortillas: Heat the tortillas on a dry skillet or directly over the flame for 20 seconds on each side until warm and pliable.
- Assemble the tacos: Place cooked shrimp on each tortilla, add a generous spoonful of slaw, and drizzle with the prepared sauce. Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute the mayonnaise-based sauce with a yogurt-based sauce for a lighter option.
- For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp for 15 minutes before cooking.
- Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free option.
- Add sliced avocado or jalapeños for an extra kick.
