Vietnamese Iced Coffee is a refreshing and robust beverage made by brewing strong coffee, sweetening it with creamy condensed milk, and serving it chilled over ice. This popular drink balances the bitterness of the coffee with the rich sweetness of the condensed milk, creating a smooth and energizing treat perfect for hot days or anytime you need a flavorful caffeine boost.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Brew Coffee: Brew 2 tablespoons of strong coffee using your preferred method, such as a French press, drip coffee maker, or Vietnamese drip filter. Ensure the coffee is concentrated and hot for the best flavor.
  2. Mix Condensed Milk: In a glass, add 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk. Pour the hot brewed coffee over the condensed milk and stir well until the mixture is smooth and the condensed milk is fully dissolved.
  3. Pour Over Ice: Fill a serving glass with ½ cup of ice cubes. Slowly pour the coffee and condensed milk mixture over the ice to chill the drink without diluting too quickly.
  4. Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately with a spoon or straw, allowing the layers to mix just before drinking for the perfect balance of sweet and strong flavors.

Notes

  • For an authentic taste, use Vietnamese robusta coffee or any strong dark roast coffee.
  • Adjust the amount of condensed milk to your preferred sweetness level.
  • If you like your coffee even colder, freeze the coffee in ice cube trays to use instead of regular ice cubes, preventing dilution.
  • This recipe can also be made with a drip coffee filter called ‘phin’ for traditional preparation.
